I has a bucket

Bunny got me a halloween bucket of candy. And so i present to you, for the first time ever- a lol Johnny. Today was perfect, I got an A on my combinatorics test and a bucket full of candy. I'm not sure how Halloween's going to go...I'm thinking a certain Comedy Central News Person could be fun :)

Lookit me! I'm on the screen!

Just playing around with seesmic.com - I don't really plan on doing video blogging any time soon - if ever (probably never). But, it's neat to play around with a little. I watched the Obama-mercial on NBC tonight - amidst the middle-America profiles there was plenty of good information. I also verified that I get to vote in San Francisco next week - I was worried that my registration would've forced me to vote down at home, but thankfully I corrected that error in time :) I saw a really dumb "register to vote by Oct. 20th" commercial today - kind of a little late... I'm excited to get my Math test back tomorrow - that's a first :p

I love a sammich

On this glorious Tuesday, I actually think I did well on my Combinatorics test! I felt super great about it afterwards, and had time to eat the brownie that Mrs. Stillwell bakes for our class every test day :) This afternoon Bunny and I went back to Arguello market to get sammiches - this is my Proscuito sammich - SOOOOO Yummy :) And on top of that, My ethics paper was pushed back an extra weekend, which is great! Alas, must study, French quiz tomorrow.

Sitting pretty

Sleepy birdies get confused easily. Good gracious, did you know that there are supermarkets that don't have greeting cards or school supplies? Simply unacceptable when I'm trying to buy a pencil the night before a test! Tomorrow is my combinatorics test, I studied a lot and I really hope it'll be ok. Other than that I started playing around with a traffic monitor for this blog - interesting way of looking at activity - I'll see how it works out and if it provides any useful information.

One week later

After a full solid week of using my wind, absolutely no regrets. I guess I could take this time to explain a little bit more about what I like/dislike. Likes: SUPER Bright screen Ultra portability - this is in my bag every day now Good battery life (even at 2hours I don't mind) updated Bios gives me a real Ctrl, Fn key layout (awesome for touch typing) Stunning looks Dislikes: Trackpad is awful (still usable, and a mouse makes a world of difference) Speakers aren't very good (but I can use headphones just fine) No hardware wifi/bluetooth switch (Only think I kind of miss from my vaio) Other than those super minimal 3 things - there is nothing I wouldn't change in this notebook - I can hardly wait to get more RAM installed and hopefully try out OSX on it someday. Quiet Sunday, grading/french/studying, had a sammich from Subway (yum again). Ready for an interesting week.

Orbit Cafe

What a huge day! So today Bunny and I had the brilliant idea of going to Arguello Market to get SAMMICHES! I love me some sammiches...I got hot pastrami and swiss on an Italian roll with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, other stuff, and avacado. IT WAS DELICIOUS! Bunny got a roasted turkey with similar fixings. And we got a spanikopita. and a small chocolate cake... anyway... So we walked over to the park and sat and ate our lunch and it was lovely out (if not a bit too sunny) but we had a really nice time just eating and watching people and enjoying life. And then we walked over to the Academy of Sciences which I've been dying to go to since well before it opened...but I want to enjoy the experience so I don't want to be there when it's all crowded, which is why we waited a month after it opened to try going. Bad Idea! The lines were so long we probably would've waited at least an hour or more to get inside...ridiculous! Afterwards we went home and went on an excursion to find halloween costumes for Bunny - and after heading to Van Ness, and up Market all the way to Castro...no such luck. We DID find some really cool Art Deco - retro furniture shops, but yeah those antiques are CRAZY expensive (at least for the good looking pieces). So I was disappointed about the AoS, but walking with Bunny was fun, as always. And the picture is from the Orbit Cafe where we stopped for water and an Italian soda (passion fruit!). It was pretty charming and I wouldn't mind stopping in again sometime.

My teas

I know i know, lipton isn't exactly regarded as great tea, but i really love these two black and white teas. Not using sugar or honey and still having a deep strong flavor is nice and refreshing. Perfect for cold nights.

ZOMG Tetris Party!

Nintendo frustrates me - I wanted to BUY Tetris Party after I saw it's preview video. Low-and-behold though, when I go to the Wii Shop Channel - I'm presented with the requirement of updating my console - which I learned thereafter would break all the homebrew stuff I put on. And so until there is a work-around for the new patches, I did the quick and easy thing - downloaded it online and installed it myself. What a GREAT game. So many different modes to play, and co-op tetris is just FUN as anything. Working together (we actually both get different shapes of bricks to work with) it's a race to 150 lines. Our best last night? 86. Not bad, but we'll definitely be playing this one again. Only bad thing about it - random "items" to mess with the other person - not that cool in my opinion.

Scabbulous

While I never played the facebook game - Bunny and I play real scrabble on occasion. We have a lot of fun because even though we're keeping score - it's not about winning or losing - we mostly try to fill up as much of the board as we can and come up with interesting words. Best discovery tonight? The vertical words grows, piano, and greener fit side by side with the provision of building the horizontal words rare, one, and woe :) I'm going to try that next time we play.

I'm full

Sometimes pigging out on ice cream is the best thing ever...ethics was cancelled tonight which was AWESOME. Unfortunately I also learned today that I have a Combinatorics test next week - but it's ok because there's mostly puzzles in that class lately anyway. Bunny and I made an AWESOME dinner tonight - steamed eggplant and a cauliflower/parsnip mash - it was so delicious. We're going to make it again sometime soon I hope. After dinner I finished my Heath Bar ice cream :)

Hope no one was hurt

Saw an accident on my way to tutor. Looked like someone just lost control. Today I had a lovely time tutoring, since nobody showed up :) I was grading papers and researching rechargeable bluetooth mice for the Wind I'll have to look into it more, because there are a LOT of mice for sale out there...Quiet Monday, good outlook for the rest of the week.

A weekend with my new friend

So I spent the weekend with my new Wind (and am currently typing on it now) and have come to the conclusion that I really love it. Yes, it's taking a little bit of time to get used to typing on a smaller keyboard (mostly the left-ctrl button and the right "/" key) but overall I'm having a blast with it. Using it in the car while Marie and I headed back to San Francisco was amazingly awesome. I'm glad to be home in SF - just have to put away some laundry and clean up my room a bit - and it's cold here! Tomorrow I have to go back to classes...whoopee.

Taking it to the...

Today Emmanuel, Teenie, Joe and I headed down to LAX to go play at the Putting Edge golf course. It's a miniature golf course characterized by black-lights and neon paint. We had a good time running around in the dark, but had to deal with the ridiculous birthday party kids ruining our concentration (no one got a hole-in-one!) because they kept coming and trying to play on the holes we were on...it was ridiculous. At any rate...I WON! yeah totally sweet ;) After, we dropped Joe off back at Azuza and I had dinner with my parents at a Japanese restaurant called Yamato near our house. It was yummy, Chicken and Scallops and fried rice/vegetables was awesome.

My new Wind blows in

I'm so excited to post this - My laptop finally arrived (granted it was only a week to wait). This little guy rocks my metaphorical socks! and my real socks too! 10" screen, quick little processor and pretty great battery life for such a small package...I found my best toy ever (for now at least...) I didn't get too much time to play with it, but Bunny took a fantastic photo-shoot of me opening it - perhaps on the two month anniversary a special supplementary post is in store (after the Halloween photo I'm sure). At any rate- I'm having a blast with the Wind in the few hours I've spent with it.

When the moon is in the 7th house...

And Jupiter really did align with Mars. I took this through one of the telescopes tonight up on Fromm. Took a while to get a good picture, but I think this one is the best. I didn't get to eat much all day, but lucky for us there was some event in the Marashi Room so we got some free rolls - they were soooo good :) I'm still just super excited that my Wind is arriving tomorrow! Such an exciting day. Came home and did math and french homework - quiet evening - made Lobster ravioli with Bunny (from the supermarket). Tasty stuff.

I thought Seinfeld ended years ago?

So this is apparently the Seinfeld Campus Tour bus - not exactly sure what was important about it, but it was on campus today. I got a sticker and a lip balm (weird schwag). Worked on some interesting stuff for Desktop Engineering, new project plans, etc... the anticipation for my new Wind is growing immensely, the next 24-36 hours are going to be intense.

How insanely cool is this!?

A one person electric car parked on golden gate. This thing was truly awesome! Looked like one of the cars from Whoville in the Grinch movie. Today was great, I got an A on my ethics paper and so did Bunny! After that came went home and did my math grading and had dinner. Did you know that they ruined Trix cereal? It used to be shaped like little fruits, but now it's just multi-colored balls! So, instead of Trix, we got "Freaky Fruits" cloned cereal - same as Trix...multicolored balls. Tastes the same since there's nothing special about it...I just like cereal sometimes. Then Bunny and I made cookies, yum!

A saturday sunset

Picture from Ocean Beach on Saturday. Nothing particularly spectacular today, except that my new laptop shipped! It should be here by Friday before Marie and I leave to go back to SCV for the weekend...I hope... Other than that, day as normal...classes, work, and drop-in hours. Nothing special, quiet start to the week.

I actually found treasure!

While walking on the Beach with Bunny on Saturday, I actually found this piece of treasure! It's actually a Russian coin...but seriously, how cool is that? Sunday was super quiet - did homework, worked on my French presentation (which I'm not looking forward to, and then just hung out. This was a fantastic weekend. I ordered a new laptop today, an MSI Wind from Best Buy. I was really disappointed that they didn't have the computer in the store and that I had to order it online from them, but at least I'm getting it :) I'll snap a pic when it arrives.

Man On Wire

Saw this documentary with Bunny. WOW! The film is about a Frenchman named Phillipe Petit and his amazing wire walking stunts in the late 60s and 70s. His biggest feat? Walking a tightrope between the World Trade Center! This truly was amazing to watch as he and his friends chronicled their escapades. First was the two towers of the Notre Dame Cathedral; next, a bridge in Australia; but the whole film culminated in the nearly silent moment of film capturing Petit walking in the middle of the Twin Towers with grace and elegance unlike anything I could ever imagine. What was he charged with for this "crime"? Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing. And those charges were dropped. Beautiful.

The Most Perfectly Amazingly Random Product Label EVER

Looking around Clement Street for green tissue paper, Bunny and I wandered into a little dollar-ish store. Way in the back were these bath and body products, and low-and-behold I found this product (among many others) that was a rip-off of Axe Body Wash called eXcess - made by, of all people and places, Phoenix Brands Division out of Santa Clarita! Unbelievably coincidental. I didn't buy it, but next time I'm down home I'll have to figure out where exactly this place is...and try and sue them for stealing my name. Today was good, although I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get to have some hands-on time with an Asus 1000 10" netbook to research my decision to buy an MSI Wind - soon to be in stock at Best Buy. I can't wait to pick one up!

Don't Step on the Ant Chair!

Bunny's new chair came today after months of waiting. The mid-century modern chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen. We ordered it back in July where it was then hand-crafted in Denmark before finally shipping out to San Francisco at the end of September. Nothing truly interesting otherwise going on in my life today - I went to class, went to work, and was very tired. The observation night went well again and Bunny came with me to that as well. Marie left for New York today, I hope she has a wonderful weekend!

The view from the roof

Tonight was my first evening of the semester doing the astronomy observation night. I'm not entirely sure about the grammar of the last sentence. Anyway, i snapped a picture of the church all lit up pretty with the moon above it. The day was nice overall tho. Mostly.

The itsy bitsy spider

Was visiting rotc. Big ole spider too. I couldn't help but stop to notice this large aracnid dropping down from the building. Today was a wonderful break again, this week is shaping up calmly as hoped for. Too bad i have a bit of a stomach ache for a few days :( hoping tomorrow will be calm and my stomach will be too.

My new contact lens case

So i got a new cleaning solution for my contacts that i haven't tried before. This one uses a vertical lens case and a different kind of solution. It's pretty meat looking. I like it. So i officially love mangoes, they're awesome. Today was nice and simple, nothing complicated. Tomorrow should follow suit.

Shh! It's a secret!

So today Bunny and i explored the Sutro baths. I'd never been there before and it was really neat to see all the ruins and climb all around the rocks. It was a lot of fun going into the little cave and hearing the booms from the waves. I love spending time exploring with Bunny, we always find amazing things in the city. Tonight i graded math papers and had some mango, wonderful combination. Tomorrow the world starts back up again though, back to work!

Mmmm Lunch!

Recipe for success: Layer of thousand island dressing Hot Dog Grilled sauerkraut with tomatoes, green onions and cucumbers Monterey Jack Cheese Chipotle Mustard. Best. Lunch. Ever. Well, maybe not ever, but it was a fantastic lunch :) Wonderful Saturday, didn't do anything substantial which was nice because it was super relaxing. Going to Sutro Baths tomorrow should be fun, I like exploring with Bunny. Oh, I must say, I really can't stand Immanuel Kant - never has a book irritated me more than Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals - he's just so full of wind and some other stuff. My philosophy book would be much simpler - be nice to everyone, be safe...etc. None of this grandiloquent pompous stuff. Still, those hotdogs were fantastic.

The deadline is October 20th to register to vote... I have to re-register because when I got my voter registration, I made the mistake of getting it from Rock the Vote, stupid MTV sponsored thing...they apparently lost my registration because I'm not registered in SF... Whatever, I have a new form to send in and then I'll be registered again. Remeber, Don't Vote! http://tinyurl.com/4f8b3g (Seriously though, do vote, but the video is good).

Invest!

Probably not the best advice in the world given the state of our country's economy. Nevertheless, today was quite a day...lots of studying and finishing my paper. My head really hurts. Only one more day left and then I get to relax for the weekend. Thank goodness because I'm getting so stressed out with all of this stuff. At any rate, this is by artist Nikki McClure, who does line cuts on a single sheet of paper. I really dig this one and there's another in my room titled "sustain".

This is how atlantis was lost.

Still working on my paper, although a little bit more leisurely as i come closer to finishing. ... Alright i actuall finished the paper before i finished typing this. I went a page over the limit, hope it's ok. I had a nice day today too, i think i did well on my french test and now i only have math to study for tomorrow. The week may end on a high note after all, and i get to see Bunny tomorrow for the first time since friday- i miss her when she's not around. Alright, i have to finish my kant reading, good luck to me some more.
