Twinkie's Walk

Emmanuel and I took Twinkie on a long walk this afternoon. After we got to my street, I let Twinkie off his leash and he was a perfect puppy and walked right alongside us. When he found this shade, he decided to stop for a while. He looked extremely happy.

Ducks and the Anti-Starbucks

We spent the afternoon at Broadway at the Beach today (lots of beach-centric shops on a boardwalk).
There are tons of ducks of all sizes & gigantic catfish in the lake; the ducks were a lot of fun because they're used to being fed, so I got some treats for them and this is what happened:

After lunch we walked by the most anti-conformist coffee shop ever:

Contact used one of my favorite board games

The movie Contact starring Jodie Foster has a scene that I only noticed recently. Ellie, the main character is drawing a picture and uses the box for Landslide, a presidential election based board game, as a desk. We've had this game in my family forever so it was pretty neat to see it in one of my favorite movies.

East Side

No way for me to post a picture tonight, but I'm posting from the Atlantic half of the country!

Teenie and I flew out here this afternoon for the start of our family festivities; what a day.
We were promptly picked up at 9 am by the towncar my dad had arranged for us. When we got to the airport, our flight to Charlotte, NC was inexplicably delayed, and for whatever reason, we couldn't use the self check-in kiosks. We waited for at least 40 minutes on the full service line, behind people with a million bags and what must have been an entire soccer team.

Eventually we got to our gate and boarded, where again, we were inexplicably separated by one seat on the plane. I offered the man between us my aisle seat so I could sit with Teenie, but this became a slight issue when he put on noise canceling headphones, an eye mask and went to sleep; and I needed to go to the bathroom...

After our main flight, we had to run over to the terminal for our connecting flight to Myrtle Beach, that one was an easy flight, we saw lightning storms from inside the plane, very pretty.

All in all it's been a long day, and tomorrow we'll head back to NC after my parents arrive.
Glad to be here, it's been 3 years since I visited (I think).

Teenie's big battery

Meet the Hypermac Micro - Teenie's new backup battery for her iPhone, courtesy of our aunt & uncle (and cousins);  This thing is pretty great, it has the capacity to fully recharge her iPhone 3 times, meaning at no point should she ever have a dead battery again (provided she has a bag with her to keep it in...the thing isn't really that small).

Very cool; for me, keeping my iPhone battery charged was simply a matter of buying an iPad...since now I use that instead of my iPhone 9/10 times and the iPad's battery lasts FOREVER!

Summer Emulation is Go

Ever since I was a little kid, I've had a soft spot for the old Super Mario games. As such I've managed to play those games on just about every gadget I've ever owned; cell phones, computers, laptops, my Nintendo Wii. Today I get to add my iPad to that list with SNES HD, a free super Nintendo emulator that uses my iPhone as the controller - absolutely too cool for words.

Video coming soon :)
