I got a flyer in the mail last week for Munchery - a new service that "answers “What’s for dinner?” with nourishing, affordable, chef-cooked meals delivered right to your door." There was a coupon code on the flyer, "first meal free", so I figured why not?
First, the promise:
Grilled Caribbean spiced leg and thigh. Served with dirty rice (red beans and rice), sautéed vegetable medley, a spicy habanero Caribbean hot sauce, and a side of fried plantains.
Sounds good. The meal was priced at $9.95, which seems reasonable given the place setting in the picture. My delivery time was for between 6-7pm, and the meal arrived right around 6:15pm. Munchery even sends a text to let you know that the delivery is on its way.
So here's what I got in my bag:
My meal in a nice, but generally standard takeout container, a handwritten thank you card, and a brownie (surprise treat!).
So how about the brownie? Good, but nothing particularly amazing. It was a nice touch for my first order though.
My total cost for this meal, with the coupon, was $2.95. For less than $3, I'm totally satisfied. If I had paid $9.95 + $2.95 for delivery, I might have been mildly unsatisfied with the extra rice in place of the pictured plantains.
